Whitman College may only rent facilities to government agencies
and non-profit organizations based upon a ruling by the Department
of Revenue regarding the tax-exempt status of our campus property.
External organizations are required to provide Whitman College with
a copy of your Internal Revenue Service Exemption Letter indicating
that your organization is incorporated specifically as a 501(c)3
non-profit organization. (Please note that a federal identification
number is not sufficient proof.)
Out-of-town visitors to Whitman events -- including opening week, Commencement, reunions, meetings, cultural and athletic events, summer programs, etc. -- number about 40,000 every year.
Located in Walla Walla, Washington, Whitman is a select, residential,
liberal arts college of approximately 1,450 students. Because there
is no summer academic calendar, non-profit groups and governmental
agencies are invited to experience Walla Walla and enjoy the Whitman
campus during the three summer months. Located close to downtown
Walla Walla, the campus is beautiful in the summer months.
The office supports the academic mission of the College in several ways: by involving students in educational and leadership opportunities during the summer, by supporting, developing and facilitating off-campus non-profit groups that enhance the academic goals of the College, and by coordinating the human and physical resources of the College.
