Plan-View Geometry of the Clastic Dikes in the Touchet Beds, Southeastern Washington, and Evaluation of Models for Origin Matthew Silver, Class of 2002 Geology Department,
Whitman College, Walla Walla, WA 99362
Introduction My thesis will present data acquired in different locations, with two different methods: the Walla Walla and Snake River valleys, where field work was the method of data collection, and the Rattlesnake Hills Research Natural Area of Hanford Works, near Richland, Washington, where data was collected from satellite imaging. I will detail data collection methods in each case. The remainder of the thesis will be devoted to presenting several models for the origin of ground cracks and then evaluating which model best fits the data the describe the Touchet Bed Clastic Dikes.
