The History of the Laurentide Ice Sheet During the Last Glacial Maximum, Southwestern Ohio
Joel Byersdorfer, Class of 2002 Dept. of Geology, Whitman College, Walla Walla, WA 99362. After studying modern glaciosedimentary processes in the Canadian Rockies, we descended to the warm and moist environs of SW Ohio to examine evidence of the farthest advance of the Laurentide Ice Sheet down in the continental United States. By manually coring ten bogs in this region, we hoped to acquire sediment packages enabling the resolution of individual advance and retreat pulses of the ice sheet.
