When students return to Whitman, we expect that they will share some of what they have learned abroad with the campus community, or greater Walla Walla. Students gain international understanding while abroad that, when shared, can help others learn more about the world outside our borders. There are numerous ways that students can contribute to Whitman or to the Walla Walla community when they return, and we hope that all students will consider participating in some of the following activities:
- Annual Whitman Off-Campus Studies Fair - suspended 2020 (volunteer)
- OCS Student Intern (apply to OCS for these paid positions)
- Study Abroad Pre-departure Orientation - suspended 2020 (volunteer)
- Whitman Undergraduate Conference in April (December proposal deadline)
- Annual Off-Campus Studies Digital Image Contest (January deadline)
- Events at Interest Houses
- Joining Beyond Borders Club with Whitman international students
- Presentations in public schools about various host countries
- Volunteering to assist new immigrants in Walla Walla
- Writing about experiences abroad for the Whitman Wire or Blue Moon
If you would like further information about how students can get involved when they return from off campus study, please contact your OCS Adviser.
