Lessons in Nonviolent Communication with Roxy Manning and Aya Caspi
By Dr. John Johnson, Vice President for Inclusive Excellence
Join us on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 4:30 p.m. in the Reid Campus Center for a special Dialogue and Dignity session on Nonviolent Communication (NVC). Roxy Manning, Ph.D. (pictured, left), and Aya Caspi (pictured, right) are certified trainers with the Center for Nonviolent Communication and will provide a presentation on the practice and benefits of NVC.
Created by Marshall Rosenberg, NVC offers a transformative approach to communication that emphasizes empathy and deep listening. NVC enables connection without judgment and helps build bridges of understanding by promoting compassion and thoughtful reflection on the expression of our own needs and the needs of others. A valuable tool for creating community in and out of the classroom, NVC is uniquely valuable for navigating communication through conflict and across differences.
On Thursday, Feb. 29, Manning and Caspi will also each facilitate smaller sessions focused on the application of NVC in processing harm and forging connections. You can sign up as an individual or group/class to participate in any of the four available sessions with either presenter. If the available times do not work, please use the form to write in your desired meeting time and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
