All contributions are welcome. Selected stories may appear on social media, online, in print or may be pitched to the media.

Event Advertising
Do you have an exciting event coming up? The first step is to fill out the Event Advertising Form. This form will guide you through, step-by-step, all your advertising needs including posters, radio, newspaper ads and other possibilities.
Your form will be reviewed by communications and we will contact you about your event. Events should be submitted as early as possible (a minimum of three weeks prior to the event) to allow us enough time for promotion.
To add your event to the Whitman Calendar and/or to reserve a space for your event, please email Conferences and Events, reservation@whitman.edu.
Editorial Style Guide
At Whitman College, we value clear, concise, and consistent communication. To achieve this, we have developed an Editorial Style Guide to provide guidance on the proper usage of language, grammar, and punctuation. The Style Guide is designed to help writers and editors across campus communicate effectively and consistently, whether they are crafting a press release, writing an email to colleagues, or creating content for the college's website. By adhering to these guidelines, we can ensure that our written communication reflects the professionalism and excellence of our institution. This guide serves as a resource for anyone who is involved in creating content for Whitman College and is committed to upholding the highest standards of written communication.

Brand Identity
One of our remarkable attributes of Whitman is our well-defined sense of self. We speak with uniform pride about our rigorous academic program, the outstanding enrichment opportunities that support the program, the beauty of our setting and the spirit and intellect of Whitman community members. There is consensus in the way we speak about these defining features and attributes. Similarly, there also must be unity in the way we communicate them visually.
The guidelines within the Whitman Brand Identity and Usage Guide organize the Whitman style for use across the range of our communications—from publications and stationery to the website and from athletics to campus and vehicle signage.
Consistent use and college-wide adoption of these standards by all involved in the creation of Whitman communications will help ensure consistency and uniformity of Whitman's look.
Order Stationery
If you need to order business cards, they are available anytime. Please email Print Production Specialist Richard Anderson. Send all the information for your card including name, title, email address, phone number(s) and fax.
Departments and programs can order office stationery twice a year through our print portal. Typically, the print portal will be open for orders for approximately two weeks in early January and in mid to late August.
We will send a notice well in advance of the portal opening times, both in Whitman Today and in an email to department assistants, to give you time to send us samples of the items you’ll need during the next ordering period.
There is also generic Whitman stationery available for purchase at the Whitman College Print Shop.
If you will be ordering customized stationery for your department and you do not have a login for the print portal, please contact Communications at comm-mgr@whitman.edu.
