Hello, I joined the Whitman community in 2015, bringing two decades of general academic advising experience and advising students interested in the health professions. It is exciting to support Whitman students from their first year through graduation and beyond, partnering with them so they can make informed decisions and reach their goals. Working with diverse students focused on different majors and interests, I strive to create a welcoming environment and opportunities for educational and career exploration of the health professions through advising, programming, and campus and community partnerships. Students are encouraged to self-reflect on academic and extracurricular experiences, and I assist them in identifying and discussing how those experiences have prepared them for a health career of service.
In addition to advising duties, I enjoy serving as the club advisor for Whitman's Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) Club, Pre-Health Society, SOS Health Club, Pre-Physical and Occupational Therapy Club, and Pre-Veterinary Club.
Beyond Whitman, I am a member of the National Association of Advisors for Health Professions (NAAHP) and a board member of the Western Association of Advisors for Health Profession (WAAHP). Volunteer community service is a passion fulfilled by serving as board chair of the SOS Health Services of Walla Walla, a local nonprofit providing free healthcare to the uninsured and those in need.
