Assistant Professor of Chemistry Mark Hendricks joined the faculty at Whitman College in 2018. He teaches courses in general, physical and materials chemistry. Professor Hendricks received his Ph.D. from the department of chemistry at Columbia University in 2015. His thesis was titled "The Synthesis of Colloidal Metal Sulfide Nanocrystals." After graduating, Hendricks was a postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern University. At Whitman his research lab with students, The Hendricks Laboratory, is investigating the synthesis of nanocrystalline materials.

The Hendricks Laboratory at Whitman College investigates the synthesis of nanocrystalline materials, with an emphasis on understanding the pathways through which they form. The Hendricks Laboratory works at the interface of physical, materials and inorganic chemistry. Further explanation of the research can be found on the lab's research page.
