Dr. Sachintha Pitigala is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Whitman College. He began his teaching career as an instructor at the University of Colombo, followed by a role as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Middle Tennessee State University. He then served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Southern Arkansas University and as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Kelaniya before joining Whitman College. He truly enjoys teaching computer science classes to students from diverse backgrounds. Dr. Pitigala holds a PhD in Computational Science and an MSc in Computer Science from Middle Tennessee State University, as well as a BSc in Statistics with Computer Science from the University of Colombo. His primary research domain is Machine Learning, where he focuses on advancing methods and applications in the field.
