Kathryn M. Frank
Kathryn M. Frank completed her Ph.D. in Communication at the University of Michigan and her B.A. in Chicana and Chicano Studies at Stanford University. Prof. Frank specializes in media industries, popular culture (especially comic books and comics-related media), Latina/o/x and Asian American media, digital/new media, and race/ethnicity in media. Her current research examines media industry practices and processes in comic book to live-action adaptation, the role of race/ethnicity in decision making and inter-industry relationships, and how these decisions impact representations of race in film, television, and comics. Prior to Whitman, she spent three years as Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Young Harris College in Young Harris, GA. She enjoys comics, professional wrestling, trivia, and the occasional crochet or cross-stitch project.
