Majors: Sociology with a Human-Centered Design Concentration.
Why Whitman: I chose Whitman after having an in-depth conversation with a professor in the Sociology Department. He told me I had become a good sociologist no matter where I went, but he encouraged me to consider Whitman, the support I'd get, and the people here. His foresight has been proven true!
Favorite things to do in Walla Walla: Visiting Pioneer Park and the wheat fields.
Favorite spot on campus: Lakum Duckum especially in March when the ducklings are hatching.
What advice you’d give yourself when you were going through the college process: I advised myself to stop obsessing about finding "the perfect college" because such a thing doesn't exist. However, a college that aligns with your core values and future goals does exist, and I focused on that as I navigated the college search.
Best class I have taken: Sociology of Education. The class is taught every spring and is open to all students, regardless of their major. This class analyzes the issues affecting education and encourages students to think broadly about how they plan to use their Whitman education and the value of a liberal arts education.
Favorite campus tradition: Riding Styx at night!
