Anderson Hall
Lifelong memories are born in Anderson Hall. As one of the most traditional residence halls at Whitman, Anderson is home to nearly 140 first-year students and is what comes to mind when you think of classic college living. With views of Stanton Field (beach volleyball, anyone?!) and just steps away from Cleveland Commons (our beloved dining hall), Anderson is where community meets quality for the ultimate transition into college life.

Jewett Hall
Jewett is a one-of-a-kind place for first-years to reside. Nearly 170 students call Jewett home each year, with varying room sizes containing unique daybeds that are compact for sitting and hanging out yet convert into twin XL mattresses. Being connected to Lyman Hall, Jewett is never far from a good time. Just steps away from Jewett Cafe and Ankeny Field, students can grab a snack and lounge outside on a sunny day right before heading to class—academic buildings are nearby!

Lyman House
There’s no place like Lyman House—where classic charm meets modern amenities. Whether you’re baking in Lyman’s newly renovated kitchen or playing games in its massive lounge, there’s always something going on nearby. You will share experiences and views of sunsets over Ankeny and with friends from Jewett Hall, Lyman’s connected neighboring residence hall. Lyman’s close-knit community—housing nearly 90 mostly first-year students—creates a quaint living situation without missing out on anything happening nearby.

Prentiss Hall
Historic Prentiss Hall is where memories are made and friendships are born. Housing around 145 women-identifying and gender nonbinary persons, there’s never a dull moment in Prentiss. If sororities pique your interest, you will be steps away from your fellow sorors residing in their designated wings in the building. Not your thing? Prentiss also has a dance room, spirituality room, plenty of study rooms, and a beautiful main lounge to partake in a variety of activities with the wonderful friends you are bound to meet. Centrally located between Cleveland Commons and Boyer Ave, Prentiss’s prime location is reason enough to love living here.

Interest Houses: You Live & You Learn!
After your first year, you’ll have the opportunity to live and learn with other Whitties in one of our 13 on campus interest houses. You’ll bond over a weekly family-style meal and take part in special events in the community.

Stanton Hall
Stanton Hall is where modern living meets community. Housing around 150 predominately sophomore students, Stanton gives students the freedom to continue living with a roommate or to live independently if they choose. Its open-concept building layout allows residents to go from one activity to another, whether it's playing ping pong with a view, watching a movie on the massive dorm projector, or roasting smores by the fire pit. However, residents can still find peace of mind in the study rooms or in their individual section lounges. Stanton is as versatile as those who reside within it.

Douglas Hall
Douglas is a popular choice among sophomores and juniors who seek a tranquil environment for studying. The hall features 10 single rooms and nine suites that accommodate up to eight students. In addition, the suites are designed around a central courtyard, creating a welcoming space for barbecues and other casual gatherings. Whether you prefer the privacy of a single room or the social atmosphere of a suite, Douglas Hall offers a range of options to suit your needs.
