Life at Whitman
Where You Can Grow, Thrive & Make a Difference
Whitman College’s campus isn’t just a place to learn—it’s a place where you can grow, thrive and make a difference. Connect with classmates who share your interests in a club and find ways to engage with the community around you. You’ll find a sense of belonging and the confidence to try new things—at one of the most beautiful colleges in the country.
Come As You Are—Be Who You’re Meant To Be!
Learn together. Eat together. Live together.
Our residence halls aren’t dorms—they’re communities, where you’ll get comfortable, make friends, have fun and be supported. Meet people from around the country and world. Get academic help from student academic advisors. Enjoy tea times, movie nights or just hanging out.
Take a Look AroundFind new passions. Serve others. Dabble for fun.
At Whitman, we encourage students to take advantage of various clubs and organizations. Launch your own radio show, join your friends in the fight to stop climate change or run for student office. Dance. Cook. Play board games.
Whitties get involved and make a difference.
Whitman students are passionate, motivated and committed—and that boundless energy is reflected in our many student clubs. Want to fight climate change, get the vote out or advocate for social justice? You’ll find others to work alongside for causes that truly matter. Love dancing? Learn folk or Latin dancing or Chinese hip-hop. Singing more your thing? Whitman has three a capella clubs. Or for fun and friendship, join a group devoted to cooking, board games, video games, archery, anime, Ultimate Frisbee and more! Or start like your own club—like many Whitties before you.
Plus: Hike, climb, kayak, etc. ... and make friends over the campfire by participating in our award-winning Outdoor Program.
Student Clubs & OrganizationsConnecting the Community Through Diverse Perspectives
We embrace perspectives from students, staff and faculty from all backgrounds. The Glover Alston Intercultural Center offers academic and social support for all students. Dozens of affinity groups help you connect with others from shared backgrounds. And annual programs like Power & Privilege and Unity Week call on our entire community to have thoughtful dialogue around issues of difference.
