Jason Copeland ’94
Jason Copeland ’94 is dedicated to Whitman College, serving on the President’s Advisory Board, mentoring students, and advising student clubs and the Phi Delta Theta fraternity chapter. His family’s tradition of service dates back to his grandparents, Dorothy Minnick, ’35 and W.L. “Shine” Minnick ’35. “Our family wants to strengthen Whitman as a rigorous liberal arts institution that prepares graduates for a complex world,” he says.
Copeland majored in Philosophy, graduating cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Post-Whitman, he worked in Taiwan, earned a Master of Arts and an MBA from Harvard, and built a career in high-tech product management at Apple, Amazon, and Cisco Systems. He resides in Mountain View, California, with his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Copeland ’95, and their three children.
“Whitman is a laboratory for leadership and a place to make lifelong friends,” Copeland reflects, highlighting his formative leadership experiences as Vice President of the Associated Students of Whitman College, Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper, as well as a Phi Delt fraternity officer. Today he and his family support fraternity housing and the Career and Community Engagement Center, emphasizing their importance for student leadership and professional development.
