During his time at Whitman, Tyler Calkin-Low ’09 thrived thanks to the many creative opportunities available to him. Now, as a professor at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR)—where he teaches digital media, creative coding, and game design—he often reflects on how his undergraduate experiences paved the way for his career in higher education. The enthusiasm for art he found at Whitman continues to shape his current work, which has taken him to various locations worldwide.
Whitman prepared me for my current role in teaching Bachelor’s and Master’s of Fine Arts students, bringing criticality and contemporary art discourse into undergraduate classes.
