Whitman College makes Kiplinger’s 2017 “Best Value College” list
Whitman College has been named one of Kiplinger's Personal Finance's Top 300 Best College Values for 2017. The ranking highlights four-year schools that combine outstanding academics with affordable cost.
Whitman College is ranked 36 on the list of liberal arts colleges and 64 on the combined list of all private and public colleges. These are the highest rankings for any college in the Northwest.
Kiplinger's assesses quality according to admission rates, the percentage of students who return for sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and the four-year graduation rate. Cost criteria include sticker prices, financial aid and average debt at graduation.
"Our goal is to help students and their parents understand what's really worth the price," said Janet Bodnar, editor of Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine. "While some schools may have ranked higher than others, all 300 schools on the list are of extraordinary value, being chosen out of 1,200 schools."
The Kiplinger's ranking is one of many accolades Whitman College has received. The college is continually recognized as a top liberal arts college by U.S. News and World Report and The Princeton Review, and as a top college by Washington Monthly.
The complete rankings are now available online and will appear in print in the February 2017 issue of Kiplinger's Personal Finance, on newsstands January 3.
