Summer construction projects build a better campus
—Staff report
This summer, construction projects across campus are maintaining and improving living and working spaces for the whole Whitman community. Here is a look at just a few of the projects underway.
Metal helical piers—an integral part of the building's foundation—protrude from the ground at the site for Whitman's new residence hall and dining commons between Otis Street, Park Street and the creek. Framing is set to begin on the north wing of the building this week.
A cherry picker waits for its operator outside the Global Awareness House, one of several Interest Houses being repainted this summer. The building's new trim color can be seen on parts of the second floor.
At the Whitman College Technology Services' offices, crews work on new curbs, designated areas for landscaping and delineated parking spots. The building will also get a new coat of paint.
