Opening Week offers first years a glimpse of Whitman
Opening Week activities offered the incoming class a chance to get to know Whitman, their new classmates and the wide range of activities on offer both on campus and in the community.
More than 200 visitors attended the 10th-annual Night at Reid event on Aug. 26. Activities included making buttons in the crafts area.
In addition to door prizes and free food, students enjoyed a wide range of games during Night at Reid, including Mario Kart, Pictionary, Cornhole, Jenga and bingo (pictured).
A well-established part of Whitman's opening week, Salsa Magic attracted nearly 200 students to Reid Campus Center's Young Ballroom on Aug. 27.
The same duo of salsa instructors has led the Salsa Magic event—where no dance experience is necessary—for the past 10 years.

This year, 120 clubs, service groups and local organizations vied for Whitties' attention at the Activities Fair, where students also browsed through posters on the search for residence hall decoration.
