Whitman receives Tree Campus USA recognition
Whitman College has earned 2017 Tree Campus USA recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation. The Tree Campus USA program honors colleges and universities and their leaders for promoting healthy trees and engaging students, staff and faculty in the spirit of conservation. Whitman met the five core standards for effective campus forest management: a tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance and student service-learning project. The Arbor Day Foundation is a million-member nonprofit conservation and education organization with a mission to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees. Learn more.
