Alumni Get Back on the Track for Athletics Reunion

On June 22-24, 2018, 45 former track and field and cross country athletes, coaches and assistant coaches returned to Whitman College for a team reunion.

Athletes and their guests kicked off the weekend with a welcome reception hosted by President Kathleen Murray. Saturday started with gatherings by coaching era, where teammates reminisced about meets and practices and road trips. Following a luncheon presentation on the state of Whitman College Athletics today by Interim Associate Athletic Director and Head Swim Coach Jenn Blomme, alumni headed to Martin Track for recognition of athletes and presentation of medals.

A highlight of the evening banquet was a video created by Eric Johnson '72, immediate past president of the W Club, showcasing the history of both programs and including photos from every era. Co-chairs Bruce Jones '67 and Glen Grodem '60 joined former coach Keith Jensen and former athlete, teacher and NASA astronaut Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger '97 in addressing the group.
