John Cunnison '95 named vice president, chief investment officer at Baker Boyer Bank
Cunnison joined Baker Boyer Bank in 2006 and has held roles with its business banking and investment management and trust services. A politics major at Whitman, he also has a degree from the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at the University of California, San Diego. He previously served as a senior consultant in Ernst & Young's customs and international trade practice.

Political consultant John-Henry Heckendorn '12, who started his career with a House campaign in Alaska, founded the Ship Creek Group and now runs strategy for Governor Bill Walker, an independent who won after the Democratic candidate agreed to run as his lieutenant governor.

Whitman tennis team tours Cambodia
Last year, Phalkun Mam '07, a member of the Kingdom of Cambodia's Davis Cup squad since 2013 and head of junior development, received a message from his former coach, Jeff Northam: "I have a crazy idea that I need your help with." The college's roster of 20 tennis players have now embarked on a trip to Cambodia to strengthen their game while soaking up cultural experiences from a historical perspective.

Whitman theatre legend Jack Freimann dies
A member of Whitman's Harper Joy Theatre faculty for more than 30 years, he retired to New York City in 1992 to resume his professional acting career. The namesake for Harper Joy’s 100-seat Freimann Studio Theatre, he also founded the facility's famed poster collection, to which he contributed long after leaving Walla Walla.
