Whitman College received a gift of $1.5 million for student scholarships and aid from Gordon ’68 and Kathy Britt Keane ’67 to support the recently launched Upward Together campaign.

Esther Hook Milnes ’73, her mother Laura Rodgers Hook Kurtz ’45, and son Douglas Hook Milnes ’02 share a strong connection with Whitman College. Their enduring commitment to giving back has provided scholarships and support to numerous students over nearly five decades.

For more than two decades, Whitman College has partnered with the Davis United World College (UWC) Scholars program to bring international students to its campus. This year, Whitman has a record 101 Davis UWC Scholars, including 35 first-year students.

Whitman College faculty and CTUIR partnered to provide STEM education to local Tribal youth in special summer school. During four weeks of immersion, students were very active in their science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. Classes took place in Pendleton, Oregon near the Umatilla Indian Reservation where the students could attend in their own school district.
