How Freedom to Delay Declaring a Major Fosters Academic Exploration
As part of its liberal arts mission, Whitman gives students plenty of time to pick a major. Many have no idea how much they will enjoy certain subjects until they try them. Associate Professor of Sociology Alissa Cordner Advocates More Medical Screening with PFAS Exposure
For people with elevated exposure to a class of toxic chemicals known as PFAS, commonly found in drinking water as well as consumer products with nonstick, waterproof or stain-resistant properties, medical screenings for conditions associated with PFAS may allow for early identification of indicators of disesase. PFAS exposure is linked to health issues including liver and kidney effects, damage to the immune system, several types of cancer, thyroid effects, reproductive harm, and developmental abnormalities.
