Department Equipment
The following is a partial list of the department's equipment:
- Scanning Electron Microscope with Energy Dispersive Spectrometer/Microanlayzer: The electron microscopy lab, which is jointly operated by the Geology and Biology Departments, contains a FEI Quanta 250 scanning electron microscope with EDS microanalyzer. This instrument is capable of imaging and chemically analyzing a variety of solid materials at magnifications up to 200,000x. We have a three room suite devoted to electron microscopy sample preparation and analysis.
