Chorale and Chamber Singers

Whitman Chorale

Whitman Chorale is the largest ensemble on campus, and well known for its captivating choral tone and emphatic performances. The size of this ensemble ranges from 80–100 singers from all disciplines, including members from the staff and faculty. Each semester Chorale performs one to three concerts, exploring recital repertoire from around the world, spanning from the Renaissance to modern day. Whitman Chorale frequently performs with the Whitman Orchestra and the Walla Walla Symphony (WWS).

Whitman Chamber Singers

Whitman Chambers Singers consists of 24 singers, mostly juniors and seniors, with high level musicianship. This ensemble performs choral literature from all time periods with an emphasis on a cappella repertoire. Chamber Singers tours regularly, including performing with the Whitman Orchestra at the College Orchestra Directors Association (CODA) conference at MIT in February 2019. Chamber Singers often collaborates on special projects with the Walla Walla Symphony and visiting composers and artists, most recently premiering works by Kristin Vining and Carlos Velez. In the spring of 2018, Chamber Singers collaborated with choreographer Laura Pietiläinen on a production of Requiem Osun by Cuban composer Calixto Alvarez. In the spring of 2016, Chamber Singers participated via video recording in Zodiak Dance Theatre's production of Michaela–the Queen of Everything in Helsinki, Finland
