Reporting an Incident of Sexual Misconduct
Sexual Misconduct Report Form
The Sexual Misconduct Report Form is an anonymous, confidential way to report incidents of sexual misconduct.
The anonymous, confidential Sexual Misconduct Reporting Form serves three primary purposes:
- To allow Whitman College to contact the report to confirm receipt of the report (if the reporter's name is included) to ask if the reporter needs information and/or assistance.
- To allow the Whitman College to track which services are being accessed and assist the college in doing a more effective job of educating students in regard to the services available for dealing with incidents of sex- or gender-based harassment, discrimination, or violence. It also allows such incidents to be posted in the college's daily crime log which is maintained by Security.
- To allow Whitman College to report more accurately the number of incidents occurring on campus each year. These numbers are reported in our annual campus security report in compliance with the Clery Act.
Callisto Vault
Callisto Vault is an encrypted platform that enables campus survivors to safely document an assault and/or match with others harmed by the same perpetrator.
The Matching System, is the first and only tool that utilizes cryptography to provide a secure alternative to whisper networks, enabling survivors to determine if others were harmed by the same perpetrator. The Matching System allows a survivor to enter the unique identifiers (ex: social media handles) of the perpetrator. In the event that another survivor enters the same unique identifier, a match occurs. Any serial perpetrator can be detected, whether or not they are affiliated with the same (or any) university. Once matched, each survivor is connected with a Legal Options Counselor who will explain their options and facilitate collective action, while protecting survivor privacy.
The Incident Log allows a survivor to create a secure and timestamped record of an assault as they decide what steps, if any, they might like to take next. Using this tool can assist survivors in processing through trauma and can serve as a reference should they decide to report now or in the future.
Important notes about Callisto Vault:
- Callisto Vault is a third-party tool that does not report to Title IX or police.
- Callisto Vault can detect serial perpetrators across campuses, including those who are not affiliated with your (or any) campus.
- Callisto Vault strengthens formal reporting outcomes through its ability to identify and connect survivors of serial perpetrators to free legal options counseling and each other.
