Audition Tour
“I really appreciated every experience that we were offered. The faculty were so incredible and I grew so much as a dancer and as a person. When I came back to my home studio, y teachers could see a huge difference.”

Selection to the SDL program is through audition. Dancers should arrive at least one half hour in advance, prepared to take a 1-1/2 - 2 hour (depending on numbers) advanced intermediate class, which may include Pointe work for the females. Prospective students must be at least twelve years of age at start of summer program. Students selected have the choice of taking 2, 3 or 5 weeks of study.
"Last year, I auditioned for Summer Dance Lab for the first time. When I found out I got in, I was thrilled. But, I was also very nervous. I'd never attended before and I didn't know what to expect. I shouldn't have worried. What I experienced at Whitman was not what I'd anticipated. It was better. The faculty was amazing; all were experienced and very supportive teachers. They pushed me in both artistry and technique. The location was first rate and my classmates were all very friendly and motivating. Overall, it was just a positive experience and one that I knew I'd have to repeat again the next summer."
