September 28, 2022 - Division of Diversity and Inclusion Annual Report
The Division of Diversity and Inclusion was active and productive throughout the 2021-2022 academic year working to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and antiracism at Whitman. The Division’s efforts for the year are summarized in a report that is now posted on the college website (see below). Divisional efforts can be classified into five major areas: DEIA Training and Education, DEIA Advocacy and Cultivation, DEIA Recruitment and Retention, DEIA Research and Assessment, and DEIA Transparency and Accountability.
In addition to a summary of Divisional activities, the report highlights the work of individual units within the Division, notably: Religious and Spiritual Life, International Student and Scholar Services, the Intercultural Center, as well as the Equity and Compliance/Title IX area.
A campus Town Hall is being organized for next month to discuss DEIA at Whitman and address any questions or concerns related to the activities detailed in the report. An invitation to the campus community to provide feedback related to DEIA strategic initiatives and the opportunity to nominate oneself or others to participate in ongoing institutional DEIA work is also forthcoming.
