July 13, 2020: Processing Community Input
Between June 26 and July 8, the Whitman Inclusion Task Force held 30 listening sessions for staff, faculty, current students and recent alumni. During these listening sessions, through an online questionnaire and in one-on-one conversations, nearly 200 people shared their thoughts on problems and solutions related to equity and inclusion at Whitman. New documents, both current and historical, were offered to the group for consideration as well.
Task force members are now combing through all the information gathered to identify themes common across the Whitman community as well as pertaining to specific people groups. Developing corresponding action items and accountabilities, ranked in terms of priority and impact, is the next step for the committee.
Thank you to everyone who participated in these experiences as well as everyone who offered thoughts in previous venues. All your input is incredibly valuable in considering how we work together to build a more holistically engaged campus.
