International Medical Insurance
Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Core
Faculty and staff who will be traveling outside the U.S. and have medical insurance through the college’s Premera health plan are eligible for access to the list of in-network providers overseas through Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Core. Simply register on the BCBS Global Core website prior to travel overseas. The website has lists of in-network providers in various cities worldwide. You may search to see if there are in-network providers available in your destination prior to departure.
International medical providers will not bill US insurance companies (Premera) directly, so faculty and staff traveling abroad must pay for the services up front, obtain receipts for services and submit a claim to BCBS Global Core for reimbursement.
iNext International Medical Insurance
Faculty and staff who are traveling outside the U.S. on Whitman business or for personal reasons have the option of purchasing additional international medical insurance through iNext. iNext offers comprehensive international medical insurance that includes medical evacuation and repatriation back to the United States in the event of a medical emergency. iNext policies also include optional add-on coverage for political unrest and natural disasters. Travelers must sign up for iNext prior to departing the U.S. For details, contact Off-Campus Studies, Mem 205 at offcampusstudies@whitman.edu.
