Chinese Guidelines
Guidelines for placing yourself in the Chinese Language Classes:
1. If you
- speak basic Mandarin Chinese,
- know Pinyin or Bopomofo, and
- write 200 characters (traditional or simplified)
Then you should wait until the spring semester and register for Chinese 106. If you cannot do all three of the above, you should register for Chinese 105.
2. If you
- speak Mandarin Chinese,
- know Pinyin or Bopomofo, and
- write 300 characters (traditional or simplified)
3. If you
- communicate well in Mandarin Chinese,
- know Pinyin or Bopomofo, and
- write 550 characters and above (traditional or simplified)
