NPR Highlights Climate-Significant Work of Whitman Geology Alum
November 5, 2024 • Matthew Morriss ’13, now a Project Geologist at the Utah Geological Survey, was featured earlier this fall on NPR’s “All Things Considered.” Morriss collected a rare ice sample from a rock glacier, which, unlike surface glaciers, may be more resistant to climate change.

January 13, 2021 • Before the first Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines could begin arriving in Walla Walla to immunize local health care workers, some logistics had to be figured out. When Providence St. Mary Medical Center was unable to get a freezer delivered in time, Whitman professors Brit Moss and Jim Russo stepped up and took action.
