Classics Guidelines
Guidelines for placing yourself in the Latin Classes:
- If you have had one or even two years of Latin in high school, it is usually best to begin Latin at Whitman from 105, our fall semester beginning course.
- If you have had two or more years of Latin in high school and feel confident of your command of the language, you might prefer to enroll at a higher level. It will be best, in such a case, to contact the Latin professor directly. We can discuss your background and administer a placement test, if that is appropriate.
If you have general questions, please contact Associate Professor Kate Shea at sheakj@whitman.edu or 509-527-5894.
