Along the Nci-Wana (Columbia River) exhibition poster

April 23–Dec. 15, 2021:

The Confluence Project is a series of six earthworks situated at significant points of contact between settler colonists, Indigenous peoples, species and ecologies along the Columbia River. This exhibition included archival materials about the construction of the sites while addressing how the Columbia River as an extractive resrouce has been shaped by legacies of disenfranchisement, displacement and violence.

Curated by: Matt Reynolds, Audrey Mace, Camille Marshall and Melina Waldman, with contributions from students in Reynolds’ Art/Environment class.

Sponsored by: The Confluence Project, “Extraction: Art at the Edge of the Abyss,” Maxey Museum, Sheehan Gallery, and the Whitman College and Northwest Archives.
