The Baker Ferguson Fitness Center is a 38,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility which is open to Whitman students, faculty and staff members, and alumni.

The Beta Theta Pi chapter at Whitman College was founded in 1913. The chapter house was built in 1938 and houses approximately 24 students.
The OP Bike Shop is located directly behind Boyer Print House, just off the small parking lot on the corner of Boyer Ave and Marcus St. Stop by and use our tools to do your own fixes, or drop your bike off and we can do the work! We sell a small assortment of retail merchandise including bike tubes, lights, locks and bags. Our service rates are very reasonable and our bike mechanics are friendly and knowledgeable. Borleske Stadium is home to Whitman College's baseball team. The stadium was named for legendary athlete and coach Raymond V. Borleske '10.
The Bracher Observatory, which is 9 miles north of town on Erickson Farm, has a 16-inch Newtonian telescope.

The Bratton Tennis Center, named in honor of former Whitman College president Walter A. Bratton, has four indoor tennis courts.
Cleveland Commons is a 500-seat dining facility that serves the entire campus community. It features a variety of dining stations, including pizza, sushi, noodles, comfort food, global cuisine, a deli, soup and salad bar, and more.

On the south side of the Sherwood Athletic Center you’ll find the Whitman College Climbing Center. The custom-designed main wall is over 100 feet long and 32 feet high. There is a bouldering area with overhangs and more. The facility is fully enclosed and was designed by the same company that built REI’s Pinnacle Climbing Wall in Seattle. You can find students of all skill levels using the climbing wall. There are open climb hours and beginning climbing classes. Many students hone their skills on the wall, and then participate in climbing trips and become climbing instructors themselves.

College House is a residence hall available to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. It houses approximately 35 students.
The Chinese House (华文苑) was originally named the Asian Studies House (ASH) and was established in 1986. The house has five bedrooms that can comfortably host an average of six to seven residents, one Resident Assistant, and a language assistant. The language assistant is a resident from China who spends the full academic year working through the Chinese department to promote and assist students in learning the Chinese language. This house focuses on Chinese traditional events; activities that take place here include Mahjong and the Chinese New Year celebration.
The Chinese House collaborates with the Chinese department and is assigned an adviser from the department. At least once a semester, the house adviser is invited over for dinner to discuss the programs that the Chinese House residents are planning for the semester. Residents of the Chinese House are responsible for completing weekly chores, having active involvement within the house and the Interest House Community, and promoting house-sponsored events and activities.

Douglas Hall, named for Supreme Court justice and Whitman alumnus William O. Douglas, is a residence hall for upperclass students. There are 10 single rooms available in the hall, and nine suites which house eight students each. Each suite has two bathrooms, a kitchenette, lounge, and laundry facilities.
The Environmental House, more commonly known as the “Outhouse,” has six bedrooms and houses an average of eight residents and one Resident Assistant. The Outhouse focuses on environmental and ecological issues and spearheads the campus’ recycling program.

The Lavender Interest House will be focused on providing programming, community building, and learning opportunities for students across campus in regards to LGBTQIA2S+ communities, identities, and experiences, at Whitman and more broadly. This house will comfortably house 8-10 residents including a Resident Assistant (RA) in a mix of single and double rooms.
This residential community is for students who are committed to gender inclusion and centers trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming, agender, gender queer, gender questioning and students with gender expansive identities and experiences. Residents of the Lavender House are responsible for being actively involved within the house and the Interest House Community, promoting Lavender House-sponsored events and activities, and caring for the space within the house, for example by completing weekly house chores. Living in this house is not limited to any particular identities a student may hold.
Lyman House is also a first-year residence hall with two-room suites. Lyman houses 89 students.

Established in 1977, the Multicultural House (MC) has four bedrooms and comfortably houses an average of four residents and one Resident Assistant (RA). This house focuses on raising diversity awareness on Whitman’s campus by celebrating and promoting different cultures. For example, some traditional events that take place here include cultural event celebration, international potlucks, global current events forums, and activities related to different cultures.
The Multicultural House is affiliated with the Glover Alston Intercultural Center and is assigned an adviser from this office. At least once in the semester, the house adviser is invited over for dinner to discuss the programs that the residents are planning for the semester.

Whitman's organic garden was created in 1997 by four students. The garden is a space dedicated to spiritual renewal, meaningful labor, community vitality, and sharing healthy practices of cultivating the land. An ASWC sponsored club maintains the garden and organizes events to open the space up to everyone.
The outdoor tennis courts are located between the Memorial Building and Maxey Hall.
The Pacific Northwest Regional Observatory located at Braden Farm near Wallula Gap provides astronomy students the opportunity to use a 30-inch Cassegrain telescope.

Whitman's Phi Delta Theta Chapter was established in 1914. The chapter house has a dining room, a study room and a recreation hall with a pool table and ping pong table.
The Physical Plant Services Department is located on Penrose Avenue north of Isaacs. The department is responsible for keeping Whitman working efficiently - from cutting the grass to fixing the heating system, painting the walls to vacuuming the residence halls, and repairing vehicles.
Prentiss is an all-women's residence hall that features an attractive arrangement of inner and outer rooms for all doubles, many study rooms, and an AV seminar room. About 145 women live here including sorority members and new students.

Sherwood House was built in 1922. The house was acquired by Whitman College, and became the residence of the President of Whitman College in 1995.
The Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Chi was formally installed as a chapter of Sigma Chi at Whitman in 1923.
The Spirituality House is for student residents and is a 3-bedroom house that will house an average of 4 students. Students living here can live out the fullness of their religious, cultural, spiritual, moral and philosophical traditions/explorations in relationships with others.
Stanton Hall opened in fall 2018. The sophomore residence hall includes rooms for 150 students, as well as study rooms, a large lounge and shared kitchen spaces.
The Alpha Theta Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon was founded at Whitman College in 1930.
Tekisuijuku (Japanese House) has five bedrooms and comfortably houses an average of five residents, one Resident Assistant and a native speaker. This house focuses on Japanese-oriented interests.

The Third Space Center at Whitman College celebrates and supports communities of color, offering a safe, affirming space for students to express their identities. It features a welcoming community room, salon, dining space, and kitchen on the first floor and an adaptable second floor for student use. Designed in collaboration with students, staff, faculty, and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, the center fosters inclusion and cultural connection on campus.
The Wellness House has four bedrooms and houses an average of five residents and one Resident Assistant. Residents of the Wellness House focus on raising campus awareness about world issues such as hunger, population, and human rights.
