Lavender House

Opening Fall 2024! The Lavender Interest House will be focused on providing programming, community building, and learning opportunities for students across campus in regards to LGBTQIA2S+ communities, identities, and experiences, at Whitman and more broadly. This house will comfortably house 8-10 residents including a Resident Assistant (RA) in a mix of single and double rooms.

This residential community is for students who are committed to gender inclusion and centers trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming, agender, gender queer, gender questioning and students with gender expansive identities and experiences. Residents of the Lavender House are responsible for being actively involved within the house and the Interest House Community, promoting Lavender House-sponsored events and activities, and caring for the space within the house, for example by completing weekly house chores. Living in this house is not limited to any particular identities a student may hold.
